Profile
Rikkyo was founded in 1874 as St. Paul's School by a Christian missionary dedicated to "providing education based on Christianity." Rikkyo has grown to 17,500 students and we endeavor to provide our students with broader and more refined technical skills but we try to provide an extra dimension: education of the spirit.

Environment
Two campuses: the original campus built in 1911 near to lkebukuro station in northwest Tokyo. The old brick buildings contrast with the modern, lively city center surrounding. The Niiza campus (18 km to the west on the Tobu train) opened in 1990.

Computer
The Ikebukuro Campus has computer classrooms in building #8; at the Niiza Campus computers are located in building #3. All registered students are permitted to use these rooms. In addition to use of a wide variety of basic applications, students can also access the Internet and e-mail account here.
Student Activities
The university encourages a wide variety of cultural and athletic extracurricular activities. There are many societies and clubs forming the cultural association and 50 athletic clubs in the athletic association. There are several Christian volunteer-service organizations cooperating with the chapel. Rush is held for all groups in spring.
Service for International Students
Japanese Language Courses, Supervising Professor system, Tutoring system for Japanese Language for Thesis or for general assistance. Advising and guidance on life and study, scholarships, housing, and visa regulations, cultural exchange with Japanese people and assistance by volunteer groups. Reduction of tuition fee for international regular students is available.

The new college, Intercultural Communication, is being planned on the Ikebukuro campus. Sports and Wellness studies in the College of Community and Human Services will be created on the Niiza Campus for 2008 academic year.
