Profile
The roots of our foundation originate with the arrival of three French nuns to Japan in 1878. For nearly one hundred and thirty years, the basis of our school's education has been placed in the gospel of Christ. Shirayuri College became a four-year institution in 1965. The educational ideology for Shirayuri is to investigate the universal truth, to give insight to intellect, and to cultivate a rich human nature based on the spirit of Catholicism. Shirayuri has endeavored to provide individualized guidance and instruction. Each department has an undergraduate curriculum designed to promote student autonomy and has a graduate school for further studies.

Formerly the site of a medicinal herb garden, our campus displays the beauty of nature making it abundant and green. This serenity makes it difficult to believe that we are only 25 minutes away from Shinjuku, central Tokyo.
