| Established in 1927, the Rissho Women's Vocational School was a pioneer of women's education in Japan. In 1953, it was reorganized as Rissho Gakuen Women's Junior College. Rissho Women's University was located at Koshigaya-City in 1966, and the name was changed to Bunkyo University in 1976. Bunkyo University provides education based on a respect for each student's individuality. It is our aim to explore and recognize each individual's strengths and abilities and to help cultivate them to their greatest potential. The university recognizes that it is to emphasize on the human dimension that is the hallmark of Bunkyo's educational objective. Our commitment for the discovery and development of the individual and for the cultivation of qualified specialists of tomorrow is based on our mission to build a strong and compassionate human character in our students so that they should become capable of resolving the difficult issues that confront us in the 21 century. We offer a large number of highly specialized courses to give our students wide options and broad perspectives, inculcating knowledge and skills necessary to becoming highly qualified specialists and professionals of the future. |

| Koshigaya campus is located in Koshigaya City, the southeast of Saitama Prefecture, about 25Km away from Tokyo. Koshigaya city is in an urban setting, but the campus sits by the Moto-Arakawa river and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Koshigaya campus is a 10-minute walk from Kita-Koshigaya station on Tobu-Isesaki Line. Shonan campus, founded in 1985, is situated in Chigasaki City. The campus is built on the hill, and has a fne view of Mt. Fuji. To get to Shonan campus, take the JR Tokaido Line to Chigasaki Station, which is the closest railway sation to the campus. Then transfer to a bus to ride for 20 minutes and get off at Bunkyo University. |

| Tutoring system helps international students learn to function in a new culture. Various activities are planned to enable the students to meet people, form friendships, and generally get involved.The students are advised to consult the Students Affairs Office when looking for a place to live and finding a good and safe job.* * Foreign students with 'College Student' visas are permitted to work up to 28 hours a week after applying for and receiving special permission from the immigration office. |
