Update on September 8, 2010
Some scoring errors were found in the Japanese as a Foreign Language in the 2010 EJU (1st Session) which was conducted on Sunday, June 20, 2010.
The scoring errors were caused by an inappropriate checking of the right answer list when the questions were replaced in the preparation process of examination questions, and it was found that the right answers of some examinees were rated as false. The number of examinees who answered the questions with the scoring errors was 54, and the examinees whose right answers were wrongly rated as false were 28.
JASSO will rescore the answers of the relevant examinees as the right answers and will send the EJU Certificates of Scores on which those results are reflected, to the relevant examinees. In this procedure, 1 to 28 points will be added to the original scores. There is no inquiry about the relevant examinees by the universities and other higher educational organizations using EJU.
Thus, since the score distribution of Japanese as a Foreign Language has been changed, the “EJU Outline of Results” listed in the website of JASSO will also be modified.
These errors will not affect all of the examinee who had the examination of Japanese as a Foreign Language. Nevertheless, on this occasion, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to the examinees as well as the universities and other higher educational institutions.
JASSO will try our best not to repeat this kind of mistake when administering the EJU in the future. Once again, we would like to apologize and appreciate your kind understanding.
