-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Thank you very much for the nice news that you provided me.
Dr. Abdullah Alaraimi (Oman)

* I express my sincere gratitude to the Government of Japan to provide me the opportunity to complete my PhD under MONBUKAGUSHO scholarship. Even after completion of my study the information I am receiving needs special appreciation. Kindly keep informing me in this way. Domo Arigato Gozaimasu.
Mrinal Samanta (India)

* I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the people in charge for this newsletter. It has been a year and a half since my graduation from Nagoya University, albeit the memories about a splendid time I have spent there are still fresh. After having returned to my native country I graduated from the university and now back to Japan (working for a Japanese company). Monbukagakusyo has given me a chance to implement my life-dream into the life as well as to find my place in this huge world. Thank you for a great piece of work you are keeping doing! Thank you for making dreams come true!
Valeriya Iurchenko (Ukraine)

* Really thank you for sending us such very helpful information. Please keep me updating on scholarship and other issues regarding Japan. I studied as a Mombukagakusho Japanese studies student (2004-2006) at University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa. Currently I am working in field of Networking and academic area at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. I really miss Okinawa. Keep up the good work.
Tadesse Anberbir (Ethiopia)

* Thank you for your kind information.
Dr. Bimal Kumar Pramanik (Bangladesh)

* I used to be a student in Japan, and received scholarships from Japanese Government. I would like to report a recently award that I received based on my doctor thesis completed in Yamaguchi University in 2007. The International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM) decided to award me with the 2009 Rocha Medal Award. I would like to express my gratitude to Japanese Government for this wonderful Award. Also I would like to thank my professors, Mizuta Yoshiaki and Ishida Tsuyoshi, and my classmates as well.
Gang Li (China)

* Thanks a lot for your greeting and emails. I really miss Japan and I also remember Japanese festival especially "Hanami" in May and "Hanabi". Of course! I saw devil masks displayed side by side at storefront in Setsubun and I enjoyed many Japanese tradition dictates. I liked boiled soybean so I ate more beans than my age at that time and my Japanese friends laughed at me for that event. I would like to invite all of you to come and enjoy Myanmar Water Festival in April. Thanks again for your keeping in touch with me.
Myint Myint Aye (Myanmar)

[From the Editor]
I recently received an e-mail from a friend of mine whom I haven’t heard from for some time. I felt a little down at that time, but the words “Cheer up!” at the end of the letter lifted my spirits and I was able to reaffirm the warm and strong ties between people. Our eNewsletter for International Students who studied in Japan has changed its name to “Japan Alumni eNews” that makes a new start emphasizing the close ties between people more than ever. By sharing your experiences in studing abroad in Japan, it might not only bring back memories of your stay in Japan, but it may also light the way and encourage those who are currently studying in Japan or those who are considering to do so to take the first step in their new chapter of life. We believe these experiences will strengthen the bond between people above and beyond both time and space. Let us nurture this eNews together through the bond that once united international students in Japan.

Opinions and ideas as well as memories and photos of your days in Japan are welcome. We would be delighted to hear any feedback from you!

The 12th issue of the newsletter is scheduled to issue on May 8, 2009.
Don’t miss it!
