TOYOBO Biotechnology Foundation

Recruiting Applicants for Short-Term Research Grant (Overseas Academic Society Announcement)

・Summary: The purpose of this grant is to support international exchanges between young researchers pursuing research in biotechnology or fundamental/applied research in the field, or technical research in the field as well as relevant research in mechatronics, materials technology, systems technology, etc.

・Eligibility:

  • Enrolled in a graduate level Ph.D. program
  • A young researcher (i.e. has completed a Ph.D. program or a Master’s program on the graduate level and under 40 years old with a certain amount of academic credits) who, as a general rule, is not working in a paid position. However, priority will be given to those who have earned their academic credits within the past 5 years. Note that previous presenters may not reapply.

Recruitment for 2010 LSH Asia Scholars
・Summary: Since the Scholarship Society was established in 2002 (Lee Soo Hyun – Honors Society), it has provided scholarships to 434 scholars from Asia over 8 years to engage in language studies as international exchange students. LSH is again this year recruiting scholars for the 9th scholarship who meet the following conditions.
・Eligibility: Certified by the Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education, enrolled at a Japanese language school eligible according to the Scholarship Society and whose resident status is either “Study Abroad” or “School Attendance” as of July 1, 2010.

2011 Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award

  • Summary: Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. has established the "Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award" since 2004 with the aim of contributing to the sustainable development of chemistry and the chemical industry. In particular, this award is designed to recognize researchers who have made outstanding achievements in catalysis science.

    Those eligible for the "Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award" and the"Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award of   Encouragement" are researchers belonging to institutions of higher learning or public research institutes, who are aged forty-five (45) years or younger and thirty-five (35) years or younger, respectively, and pursuing catalysis science research involving olymerization catalysts, fine synthesis catalysts or other catalysts contributing to environmental protection.

    "Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award" "The Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award," consisting of a commemorative plaque and a cash prize of five (5) million yen, is given every other year to up to one researcher (aged forty-five (45) years or younger at the date of April 1, 2010) with the best achievements.

  • Summary:The project supports academic study by providing two types of financial assistance. The first is a monthly stipend of 100,000 yen over 2 years for foreign students studying at a Japanese graduate school, university or vocational school at their own expense, while the second is a monthly stipend of 60,000 yen over 1 year for foreign students studying at a Japanese university, vocational school or Japanese language school at their own expense.

  • Summary: JIRCAS, through international collaborative research, one of the schemes of its main activities, aims to provide scientific solutions to the various problems confronting the countries in the developing regions of the world, particularly in the areas of agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
