Follow-up Research Fellowship Reports for FY 2022 (Hiroshima University) Foreign Researcher It is proven that SUS304 austenitic stainless steel has strain-induced martensitic transformation (SIMT) mechanism during plastic deformation leading an improvement of the mechanical properties. In this study, rate-sensitivity of fracture characteristics in the small punch test using a small specimen is investigated in experiment and finite element simulation for this steel. Fracture toughness is discussed based on the results of force- deflection curve as well as SEM observation. A modified damage model is incorporated into the constitutive equations.
