In 2022, Japan lifted entry restrictions and resumed acceptance of overseas visitors. As of January- October 2023, the number of inbound tourists had reached 19.89 million, recovering numbers to 74% of pre-COVID levels. Japan has become easier to visit as international flights increase in number and return flights continue. The government’s policy is to attract tourists to regional areas and increase consumption to revive Japan into a tourism-centered nation.
