In accordance with the implementation of new curriculum guidelines for high schools in Japan in April 2013, we are changing parts of the Syllabus for Basic Academic Abilities in the EJU.
The new curriculum guidelines were implemented for “Science” and “Mathematics” one year earlier, in April 2012. With respect to the EJU, in September 2013 we prepared a draft of the Revised Syllabus for Science and Mathematics and requested related organizations such as universities, Japanese language educational institutions, etc. to comment on it.
We are sending you the Revised Syllabus for Science and Mathematics of EJU which reflects the comments we received. This syllabus will be used as the basis for question starting in the 1st session (June) 2015 EJU.

1. Points of the Revised Syllabus
< Science >
- Physics
- Chemistry
The revised syllabus changes the structure of the syllabus, for example, atoms and molecules are dealt with under the heading “I Composition of Material”.
- Biology
The structure of the syllabus has been substantially changed in accordance with new curriculum guidelines.
< Mathematics >
Both Courses I and II comply with the curriculum guidelines for high schools. “Mathematics I (excluding Data Analysis)” and “Mathematics II” are in the scope of Course I, and “Mathematics I (excluding Data Analysis)”, “Mathematics A”, “Mathematics II”, “Mathematics B (only sequence and vector)” and “Mathematics III” are in the scope of Course II. What is taught in elementary and junior schools will be deemed to have been already learned and therefore is to be included in the scope of the EJU.
