History of Tokyo Japanese language Education Center | JASSO History of Tokyo Japanese Language Education Center (Japanese Language School of the International Students Institute) Date Event Dec. 1935 Founded as an affiliated organization of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Feb. 1936 The International Students Institute Hall opens and starts accepting students. Japanese language classes opened. Dec. 1940 Receives permission for establishment as a foundation. Jurisdiction is transferred to the Cabinet Information Bureau. Nov. 1942 Joint jurisdiction under the Cabinet Information Bureau and the Ministry of Greater East Asia. Jan. 1943 the Japanese Language School of the International Students Institute is founded.
