History of Tokyo Japanese Language Education Center (Japanese Language School of the International Students Institute)

Dec. 1935 Founded as an affiliated organization of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Feb. 1936 The International Students Institute Hall opens and starts accepting students. Japanese language classes opened.
Dec. 1940 Receives permission for establishment as a foundation. Jurisdiction is transferred to the Cabinet Information Bureau.
Nov. 1942 Joint jurisdiction under the Cabinet Information Bureau and the Ministry of Greater East Asia.
Jan. 1943 the Japanese Language School of the International Students Institute is founded. Authorized as a school. (closed in 1945)
Aug. 1945 Jurisdiction transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Jun. 1951 Japanese Language Education Department established. Japanese language classes opened.
Feb. 1958 The Japanese Language School of the International Students Institute is established and authorized as a school.
Aug. 1978 Tokyo Headquarters Dormitory, renovation of school building, opening of new building.
Mar. 1979 Japanese language educators dispatched to the Northeast Normal University (China) Japan Exchange Student
Apr. 1979 Jurisdiction transferred to the Ministry of Education.
Aug. 1979 Designated as a Ministry of Education Preparatory Education Course (Under Bulletin 143 of the Ministry of Education, students who graduate from this school are deemed to have completed the equivalent of 12 years of school education in a foreign country and the school is designated as one that is able to grant qualifications to the student to apply for university in Japan.)
Jun. 1982 Japanese language educators dispatched to the University of Malaya Malaysian Government Dispatch Undergraduate Students Preliminary Education Course.
Oct. 1982 Acceptance of Japanese Government Scholarship Students (Japanese Language Special Course for Technical College) starts.
Apr. 1983 Start of acceptance of Scholarship Students dispatched by Malaysia government (Technical College admissions students) starts.
Apr. 1984 Start of acceptance of Scholarship Students dispatched by Singapore government (undergraduate admissions students).
Apr. 1985 Start of acceptance of Scholarship Students dispatched by the Indonesian government.
Apr. 1987 Start of the scholraship of The Japanese Language School of the International Students Institute
Jun. 1990 Tokyo Headquarters International Student Dormitory expanded and renovated.
Apr. 1992 Start of acceptance of Scholarship Students dispatched by the Thai government.
Jul. 1992 Dispatch of Japanese language educators to the Malaysian Institute of Technology Technical School Preparatory
Apr. 1995 The Japanese government scholarship technical school admissions course becomes a one-year course.
Apr. 1996 Start of acceptance of Scholarship Students dispatched by the United Arab Emirates government.
Apr. 1996 Dispatch of Japanese language educators to the AYF Malaysia Preparatory Education Center.
Oct. 1997 Start of acceptance of Scholarship Students dispatched by the Uzbekistan and Kuwait governments.
Apr. 2004 Become the Japan Student Services Organization Tokyo Japanese Language Education Center.
Apr. 2007 Start of acceptance of Scholarship Students dispatched by the Saudi Arabia government.
Apr. 2012 Start of acceptance of Scholarship Students dispatched by Taiwan (Interchange Association Japan).
