1956 April 21st The founding general meeting is held
1956 June 8th The Ministry of Foreign Affairs grants the permission for the opening of the Kansai International Students Institute (K.I.S.I)
1956 September 14th Starts offering lodging to students
1956 November 9th The Maintenance Commission is organized
1967 October 1st The K.I.S.I opens its Japanese classes
1970 March 2nd Osaka Prefecture Governor grants K.I.S.I with the school operation permission
1970 April 20th The Japanese language school at K.I.S.I opens
1979 April 1st Jurisdiction of K.I.S.I changes hand from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of Education
1979 August 24th In accordance with the Japanese Ministry of Education’s Legal Notice 143, the students graduating from K.I.S.I. Regular Course shall have the equivalence of 12 years of educational background, and thus be entitled to apply for Japanese universities or other higher education
1981 October 3rd In accordance with the Japanese Ministry of Education’s Legal Notice 153, the K.I.S.I. has been re-qualified as a preparation institute for foreign students to enter Japanese universities
1987 April 1st The K.I.S.I. main building is officially in full operation
1988 October 1st The K.I.S.I inaugurates its scholarship system
1990 October 1st The K.I.S.I inaugurates its study bounty system
1991 April 11th The K.I.S.I starts accepting Malaysia Government dispatched students
1994 April 11th The K.I.S.I starts accepting students who have acquired the Ministry of Education’s scholarship
1999 November 15th In accordance with the Japanese Ministry of Education’s Legal Notice 195, the K.I.S.I. Regular Course itself has been re-qualified as a preparation course for foreign students to enter to Japanese universities
2004 April 1st The K.I.S.I. is newly started as Osaka Japanese Language Education Center (O.J.L.E.C.) , JASSO
2007 April 10th The O.J.L.E.C starts accepting Saudi Arabia Government dispatched students
2007 November 15th In accordance with the MEXT’s Legal Notice 131, O.J.L.E.C Regular Course has been renamed as Preparatory Course and been re-qualified as a preparation course for foreign students to enter Japanese universities
